the solution is like getting into jhana. you learn to quickly orient yourself into sleep paralysis space and recognise that because you are in a jhanoid state “quite secluded from sensuality” that there are some positive feedback loops you can get into quite easily just by directing your attention at them, just like in first jhana. raptures are pretty easy: you just invert the valence of the feedback and instead of spiralling into fear, you spiral into rapture. if you do this then the transitoriness of the sleep paralysis state (it needs a better word than this) breaks differently, because it’s become characterised by rāga instead of dvesa
the prescription for when you get overtaken by dvesa is lovingkindness, which is why people give the advice of shooting love beams at night hags. interestingly the prescription for getting overtaken by rāga is generosity/selflessness
